The Sacrament of Confirmation is the Sacrament which seals in the soul of the recipient the grace of Baptism, and more closely unites the confirmed person to the Body of Christ, the Church. Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Christian is given the strength to be a true witness to Christ, to be able to proclaim Him by word and by deed.

The ordinary age for this Sacrament in the Diocese of Harrisburg is in the 8th grade.

Religious Education classes are required before one can receive this Sacrament, with these classes being offered as a part of the York Catholic High School curriculum or while involved in Religious Education classes held at St. Mary's Church.
